    This course will expand upon the basic principles discussed in Billing & Coding Basics.  It includes a discussion of modifiers, consultation codes, and billing strategies for common types of ophthalmic visits.

    HR is much more complex than it may seem on the surface. Learn about the basics of interviewing, staff motivation and performance, personnel benefits, and employee dismissal. We may also cover specifics of the practice personnel and policy manual.
  4. Customer Service Workshop 1 Hour
    Let’s cover how to improve the customer service of your practice.  Learn the basics of interpersonal communication and basics sales techniques.
  5. Sales 101 Workshop 2 Hours
    Let’s cover how to improve the customer service of your practice.  Learn the basics of interpersonal communication and basics sales techniques.

    An entertaining view on the causes of dry eye and how this condition can be treated and what your role in this patient’s care should be.
  2. History Taking and the Optometric Technician 1 Hour
    A comprehensive look at how to take thorough medical and ocular history with an entertaining commentary on patient communication.
  3. What Test Do I Do Now? (Accessory Testing)2 Hours
    An in-depth look at the proper way to perform all those tests and what they really mean.  Tests to be covered include visual acuity, pupils, cover test, topography, keratometry, Amsler Grid, accommodative/convergence testing, blood pressure and many more.
  4. What’s Wrong With the Patient (Ocular Disease)2 Hours
    A simple explanation and visual identification of common ocular diseases and the technician’s role in identification of these diseases.
  5. How About Some Cool Drugs? (Ocular Pharmacology) 2 Hours
    A practical way to understand the purpose of common topical ocular drugs and the uses of certain systemic drugs used in eye care today.
  6. Systemic Disease and the Ocular Side Effects 2 Hours
    An educational and entertaining look into human disease and the effect on the visual system
  7. Ocular Anatomy & Physiology 1 Hour
    An in depth explanation of the anatomy and function of the various components of the eye
  8. Glaucoma in the 21st Century 2 Hours
    A review of the various types of glaucoma as well as common medical and surgical intervention.
  9. Phone Triage for the Ophthalmic Assistant 2 Hours
    This course will discuss the basic questions of every practice from insurance to emergency triage.
  10. The Basics of Visual Fields 1 Hour
    We will discuss visual fields and the most common defects. We will also discuss the various instrumentations and methods of testing.
  11. The Motility Examination (Muscles can be Fun!!)1 Hour
    This course provides a detailed explanation a visual representation of the six (6) extra-ocular muscles in terms of how they function and what their effects are on the movement of the human eye.
